How to Discover Your God Given Calling

One of the most asked questions i come across as a Life Coach! "What is my purpose and what is my God-given calling?"

Such a personal, confronting, deep and overwhelming question for most of us... setting the trajectory of our lives toward a divine journey, ready to unfold and opening up new path's towards God's calling.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just talk to someone, ask the question and get a clear answer? But discovering something so profound, divine, mind blowing and life changing takes much more than that.

For me it would have to start with a relationship with your Creator. Who would better know their creation than the creator? I absolutely believe that we are all made for a purpose and that is simply to love God and love people. To live not just for ourselves but for something much bigger and that is to serve those around us and share the love of Christ into their lives. This is our purpose.

But i also believe that to each person, specific skill sets, gifts, talents and passions were given. Some might be good with finance and dealing with numbers, some might be great at cooking and hospitality, some might be great at organising events and dealing with people... we all have our unique gifts that we can use to serve those around us... those things that light us up and are so PASSIONATE about!

So i believe discovering your God-given calling really comes from knowing your PURPOSE and being clear on what it is that you are PASSIONATE about. Reminds me of this quote by Bishop TD Jakes:

"If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion for your passion will lead you right into your purpose." TD Jakes

Discovering your purpose and your God-given calling is so powerful in that you get to live a purpose driven life! Not only will you be living such a fulfilled life, a life that lights you up and causes you to jump out of bed excited for what's to come, BUT you will also be able to bless and impact everyone around you on a much bigger scale and on a deeper level.

(The journey of discovering and following your journey is a process we all have to go through! enjoy every moment, keep a teachable heart and remember the WHY you do what you do)

CALLING (according to Merriam Webster dictionary): - is a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence.

So how do you discover your God-given calling?

The place where God is leading you serve with conviction?

Start with your PASSIONS! What are you passionate about?

Making space and allowing yourself to listen as you spend quite time with our maker would be the first step! Devotion, quiet time and quality time with God.Ge to know yourself and listen closely to what your life is telling you.

Here are a few questions you can ask:

- What excites you the most and what lights you up?

- What do you hate doing.. what snatches your energy?

- Where do you feel drawn to help?

- Where do you feel you thrive?

- What topics and what causes makes you feel you want to take action?

- When do you feel most powerful and effective?

- What gifts and talents do you have that you love using?

- If finance was not an issue and you are able to do anything with your time, what would you do?

These are just some of the questions you can ask to discover what you're passionate about. Once you have discovered this, you are so much closer to discovering your calling!

Next steps are of course all about confirmation! The more you spend time with your maker, the more you will find that He will direct you in the next steps to take. Remember:

No matter what, you can always be rest assured that God will always be there to direct your every step. Dream Big and trust Him every step of the way!
